Books Presented to Joplin Elementary

Kathy Drake, MoFRW president,  presented  100+ books today to students at the Duenweg/Duquesne Elementary in Joplin.  The books were donated at the NFRW Convention to be given to a worthy school in Joplin.

The school were the book presentation was made were small schools not far from one another. Following the tornado they combined their schools into one campus at Duenweg with the assistant of modulars so another school that was destroyed could move into the Duquesne facility.  Many of the students at this school lost their homes.  When they combined the schools it more than doubled the number of students housed there in K-5.  The students and faculty were very appreciative of the donation.  One boy in particular was so excited about the recordable book he was handed for the photo.  The principal assured him she would record the story today and bring it to him so he could be the first to listen to it.    What was most impressive was when the bell range five students came to to the front office.  Three proceeded outside with the American Flag to put it up, two proceeded to the school pa system to lead the entire school in the Pledge of Allegiance.
