My Favorite Teacher

To nominate My Favorite Teacher print off the directions or follow the information below.

1. My Favorite Teacher essay of 150 words or less should be received by the sponsoring club no later than January 15, 2011. Clubs may contact school whenever they wish. If you prefer an earlier deadline that is fine.

2. All essays must have the grade, student’s name, parent’s name and address, the name of the honored teacher, school name and sponsoring MoFRW Club on the back of the essay. Entries will be returned stamped not eligible for judging if this information is not legible. Clubs will be responsible for parent’s printing permission release. It is very important to have this information as letters will be sent to the winner congratulating them and giving them details of their day in Jefferson City.

3. Send your selected essays to Shirley Lowe, 25376 Trinchera Rd, Edwards, MO 65326 postmarked no later than February 1, 2011 for judging at the state level. This is a definite deadline so we can contact the winners in a timely fashion.

4. Each club is urged to provide prizes to their local winners.

5. Each club may submit four top placing letters in each group (K-4 and 5-8) making a total of eight letters for the state contest.

6. Essays at state level will be judged by an independent group. The first place essay from each age category will be forwarded to the National Federation of Republican Women to compete on the national level. All winning essays will be published in a booklet.

7. Awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with MoFRW Legislative Day, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 in Jefferson City where the Legislature will recognize the chosen teachers and students.

8. There will be two classifications of essays – grades K-4 and grades 5-8. They may either be handwritten or typed.

9. Each winning teacher will receive a monetary award.

10. Winning students will be recognized, receive a gift and certificate and be honored in Jefferson City.

11. MoFRW wants to recognize clubs who initiate book programs for children. We will honor the club with the best book program, number of books presented, where given, and how the entire program is implemented. Please send a summary of your No Child Left Behind Book Program to: Shirley Lowe. Clubs will be recognized at the MoFRW State convention for their participation.
